I’m Yousaf Dilshad (autographed: Yousaf ♥shad) and I have the paramount pleasure and privilege of upholding the office of President, Smamun ‘11.

This summer, I’ll be bidding farewell to Saint Mary’s Academy after 13 cherished years as I make way for LUMS, and the 7th annual edition of Smamun will be the last event that most of the host team along me will have the honor of holding in our institution’s name; so trust me when I say this, Smamun ’11 will be more than just another event for us, and here’s hoping that you feel the same way by the time this year’s conference reaches an end.

From everything committee and debate to the social events, and even through all the nooks and crannies of times packed between those two, this year’s conference is overflowing with enriching experiences. Tracing our way along the footprints of the first high school Model UN in Pakistan, Smamun 2005, this year’s Smamun promises to introduce, revolutionize and make tradition once more. From the 5th day committee, promising an unheralded reward for the best of the best, to the plethora of indulgences even MUNning fledglings can partake in, this year’s gathering hopes to let you MUN like never before.

Also, this year the entire Smamun team along with the capable EC has flexed their creative muscles brilliantly to encompass, as you will see for yourselves, the best of the customary classics with promising ground breakers; ensuring you an unforgettable five day MUNning mix no matter how well acquainted (or not) you are with the model united nations landscape.

As Martin Luther King Jr. would put it; I have a dream. I have a dream of a MUN that one day rises up and lives out the true meaning of its creed: I have a dream of a MUN that leaves you exhausted in the aftermath of clattering placards, and follows suit with the most tantalizing of social events, to truly invoke your MUNing spirit only to leave it drenched in the afterglow of an experience of a lifetime. I have a dream of a MUN, where you, the delegates, come first.

All things said, Smamun 2011 promises to be an event not to miss, and I along with my beloved host team most certainly hope to catch you around.

Yousaf Dilshad,
President,
SMAMUN 2011

Greetings everyone! My name is Daniyal Ahmad Kamal and yes, main waqai kamal ka bacha hon! I am the Secretary General for this year’s SMAMUN. Woah! You have no idea how good it felt to write that.

My MUNing journey started way back in 2008, when as a 14 year old I attended BMUN and LUMUN. From then onwards I’ve never looked back, attending countless MUNs, chairing in SMAMUN’09, and directing the last SMAMUN. I hope to utilize all this experience in fulfilling my prestigious role as the Secretary General this year.

Apart from MUNing, I spend my spare time watching TV seasons, playing football, day dreaming and wasting time. Oh, and I almost forgot to mention, I LOVE my school. I’m also an avid Arsenal and HOUSE MD fan, and fresh of the decision to decline the chance to go to LUMS (much to the dismay of the President and HOHT); I hope to pursue a career in medicine. Now all that’s left for me is to develop a limp and get addicted to Vicodin.

SMAMUN, being one of the most prestigious student organizations in the country, strives to improve its standard of debating each year. This year the responsibility of doing so falls directly under me, and not failing to live up to expectations, we’ve introduced a special 5th day committee. The principle behind this change is to pit the best debaters from each committee against each other and then be able to award to one lucky delegate, the ‘Best Diplomat SMAMUN ‘11’. As you can see, this has never been thought off, let alone be implemented ever before and we’re confident it will make the level of debate ever more competitive.

So delegates, get yourselves ready. From all the brilliant social events to the 10 committees we have strenuously arranged, you are in for the time of your lives. From the 26th to the 30th of July lie five days which you will not soon forget. See you at the conference!

Daniyal Ahmad Kamal,
Secretary General,
SMAMUN 2011

Ola Amigos and Amigas! The name is Abdul Rehman Agha and I’m HOHT (Pronounced: Hot). With great pride and honor I welcome you all to this year’s SMAMUN. SMAMUN, since it’s initiation, has always been a trend setter and I, as the head of host team, will ensure that this year is no less. An extensive MUNer myself, I believe this year’s conference will be an enriching experience for both: Experienced and first-time MUNers.

When I’m not busy MUNing or blogging (iBlog @ 3arn.Net), I like to watch TV shows and pull all-nighters for no apparent reason. After I’m done with my A levels and I aspire to become an noteworthy economist/entrepreneur one day, that is, whichever comes first.

I’m a strong believer in the cause of MUNs and their ability to influence young minds to make a difference. Though world issues cannot be simply brought to rest through negotiations at an MUN, it is always a start to positive thinking; something that gives us the ability to look at a matter from the viewpoint of others. With this noble cause at hand, I, along with my host team, will try my level best to provide the delegates with the most welcoming platform to experience this.

We’ll be having a great line-up of social events that will help you relax and interact with other delegates throughout the conference, and I can assure you that you’ll be having fun inside as well as outside the committee rooms. I’m by no means a bragger of my abilities, but with my wonderful host team I’m fully confident that this year’s SMAMUN will be a memorable experience for all the delegates. My host team and I are anxiously looking forward to meet you all on the 26th of July.

Abdul Rehman Agha,
Head of Host Team,
SMAMUN 2011

Hello, my name is S. Mohib Ur Rahman Azeem and I’m not a terrorist; actually, I happen to be the treasurer for SMAMUN 2011. As my position clearly indicates, I’m good with money. Anyways, my association with SMAMUN goes way back to 2006, when I started out as a volunteer. The allure of the intellectual stimulation, random fun and overall awesomeness kept me coming back for many years after my first and I kept climbing the administrative ladder until I became an assistant director last year.

Besides extensive MUNing, I’ve also administrated a lot of other events such as fund-raising for the flood victims and such. So when it comes down to it, I know what it takes to make an event a success and am glad to offer SMAMUN my services.

SMAMUN, as many of you may know was the first inter-school event of its kind to ever take place in Pakistan. We, being the pioneers that we are, take great pride in maintaining the level of excellence debaters have experienced since the 1st SMAMUN and we assure you, it will be one of the best experiences of your life. Here’s hoping that you, the delegates, enjoy this event as much as we have enjoyed ourselves putting it together for you.
